Congtuations to Our Students
Mock Trial Team
Congratulations to the SHS Mock Trial teams who placed 1st and 2nd at the Mock Trial competition at Marquette Law School, on Saturday, February 13. After a long day of heated competition Shorewood's Varsity Red and Junior Varsity Grey teams met in the fourth bout of the day for an all-Shorewood championship round! In the end the Varsity Red team took first by a single point over the JV Grey team. Varsity automatically advances to the state tournament, while the JV team waits to hear if they will receive one of four statewide wild card berths to join Varsity in Madison on the weekend of March 13th. Both teams worked very hard to prepare for this competition and really showed their stuff in every mock trial of the day. Congratulations to the following students: Red team – attorneys: Emi Brahm, Sofia Jonas, Casey Tolan; Witnesses: Rose Yeazel, Alexandra Bassen, Rachel Neubauer, Montana Morris, Aaryn Kealty. Grey team: Attorneys for the plaintiff: Sha Li, Ted Huang, Al Yaman Amer; Attorneys for Defendant: Jenny Tasse, Tarik Alsliwadi, Lydia Hartlaub; Witnesses: Zan Song, Micayla Lubka, Yun Sun Jin, Adam Schwartz, Ailsa Harju.

Congratulations Hallie Sanders
SHS senior Hallie Sanders has been named one of the 3,000 candidates in the prestigious U.S. Department of Education’s 2010 Presidential Scholars Program. Consideration is based on students’ essays, self-assessment, activities, school recommendations, and school transcripts. The U.S. Department of Education will convene a panel of educators to review the submissions of the candidates and 500 semi-finalists will be selected in April. In May, the commission on Presidential Scholars will announce the approximately 100 winners.

Music Award
Connor Peck, SHS Junior, received a second place scholarship from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. He competed in the rock/blues guitar, age 15 to adult category. Contestants were judged on musical qualities, technique and performance skills. Congratulations Connor!
